Airport transfer Florence

How to get from the airport in the city center of Florence Italy? All tips about transport, shuttles and transfers between the airport and Florence (Firenze).

From airport to hotel in Florence

If you stay in Florence, probably you will arrive with your flight in Florence's own airport Amerigo Vespucci or Florence Airport (Peretola) . A second possibility is to arrive at Pisa airport Galileo Galilei. You can easily reach the Tuscan capital from both airports.

1. From Florence airport (Peretola) to city center

1. By public transport : You can easily get to the city by public transport. Since 2019 there is a shuttle tram that runs from the airport to the center of Firenze. This new tram, the T2, runs from the airport to the Unita stop close to the central station. The tram runs every five to ten minutes and a ticket costs € 1.50 per person (more info airport tram). You can also choose to take the bus from Volainbus to the center. This runs every half hour from the airport to near the Santa Maria Novella station. The journey takes twenty minutes. The price is € 6 per person for a single trip.

2. Taxi transfer from Florence airport: You can also take a taxi, which has a flat rate for transport to a hotel in the center. A taxi ride costs between 22 € (day) and 25 € (evening) and € 1 extra for each piece of luggage. If you want to book a reliable taxi without stress, you can book it before your trip. The taxi driver will then pick you up from the airport.

Recommended: I've had good experiences with Welcome Pickups, where a taxi driver will meet you at Florence airport with a name sign. With this you are sure of an available taxi and the price will hardly differ from a normal taxi. Simply check your fare at Welcome Pickups.

3. By rental car: The airport of Florence is located in the northwest of the city about eight kilometers from the center. It is also close to the autostrada A1 and A11. At Florence Airport you can use the car rental companies: Auto Europa, Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Maggiore, National, Sixt, Goldcar, Locauto Rent, Enterprise, Alamo, B-Rent and Leasys Rent. It is about twenty minutes by car to the center of Florence. We have very positive experiences with car rental at the airport via DiscoverCars.com, where all rental companies are compared:

2. From Pisa Airport (Galileo Galilei) to Florence

1. By train: If you go by public transport, you have two options. Or you can take the shuttle monorail from the airport to Pisa central from where you can catch a direct train to Florence. The so-called People Mover runs every five to eight minutes. One-way tickets cost five euros to Pisa central. After this you have to buy a train ticket from Trenitalia for about nine euros one way.

2. By bus: You can also make the entire journey from Pisa Aiport to Florence by bus. This will take about an hour. This bus runs 17 times a day and drops you off at the Guidoni station. A single ticket costs 15 euros. From Guidoni you can take the T2 tram to the center (book your tickets).

3. By car: From Pisa Airport you can also rent a car at the nearby car rental offices to which you will be taken by shuttle bus. From there it is more than an hour's drive to Florence. We have very positive experiences with car rental at the airport via Easyterra, where all rental companies are compared:

4. By taxi: If you opt for a taxi, it is advisable to book one in advance (website). The driver will then pick you up at the terminal with a name sign and take you from the airport to your hotel in Florence. Keep in mind that Pisa is 83 kilometers from Florence, so this will be expensive.
